Björn Gustafsson

At 16 years of age Björn Gustafsson entered the world of competitive triathlon.  He quickly joined the top ranks in Olympic distance events (1 mi swim, 25 mi bike, 6.2 mi run) and also achieved success in the 70.3 "half ironman" distance.  (1.2 mi swim, 56 mi bike, 13.1 mi run).  In 1992, at his 23rd birthday, his promising athletic career came to an abrupt end due to an running related soft tissue injury.

Björn subsequently studied sports science with a focus on gait analysis.  In his Master's thesis in Sport Science he examined the "Rear foot pronation angle in relationship to the running speed and the foot structure".
